Joshimath in Auli
Joshimath (earlier known as Jyotirmath also named Jyotir Math) is one of the four ‘maths’ found by Adi Guru Shri Sankaracharya in the 8th era AD. The place is highly respected by Hindus and it is an significant pilgrimage center in the nation. Many supporters and travelers can be seen in the region during the pilgrim season. There are many shrines and other spiritual sites that are positioned in the town as well.
Joshimath at an altitude of 2100 meters, is a city with sacred
importance in Uttarakhand. It is also the connection point for people visiting
Auli, one of the finest skiing spots in India. It is also the main base contact
for Badrinath.
How to reach :- Joshimath is located
in the Himalayas on path from Haridwar to Badrinath freeway. Many pilgrims take
a night break at Joshimath during their Chardham Yatra tour. The road expanse
from Rishikesh to Joshimath is 251 km through Rudraprayag, KaranPrayag,
Srinagar and Chamoli.
Joshimath
is not straightforwardly connected by rail or air. The nearby airport is
located in Dehradun at a distance of 151 km. The adjacent railway station is at
Haridwar, which is about 163 km from Joshimath and can be reached from chief
cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Dehradun. It is also linked to Dehradun,
Rishikesh, Haridwar, Almora, and Nainital by local bus service.
